Arrived in Vietnam yesterday! Flights with Etihad great, good movie choice and free bar! Hotel great - aircond, minibar, flatscreen TV, all for 20USD a night! Had lovely Thai meal last night with a big bottle of Tiger beer for 3e!! Everyone v friendly. Hanoi trafiic is mad, loads of honda 50s going in all directions beeping at each other, its scary crossing the road. Got a lift to the hotel on the back of a honda 50 with the guy driving holding my racksuck in the front. I just closed my eyes and prayed!

T. Well I'm glad you arrived safe but I'm surprised you were sober given that there was a free bar on Etihad plane. I can't believe you took a lift from a guy on a Honda 50 - your bonkers. Anyway stop lying - you don't know any prayers!!

What is weather and heat like. Should I start packing my bag for Oct? Do find me a really nice hotel just in case.

Yo Lofty! Honda 50 guy was from the hotel - I'm not that bomkers! But motor bike taxis seem to be way to trave here. Yes the hotel (Rising Dragon) is nice, I reckon similar to a 3 star in Europe, its v clean and the room is big. First impressions are that Hanoi is just a plae to stopover, its a bit frantic with the mad traffic, off to Halong bay in the morning, will let you know how it goes.
